John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs he wrote, most of them set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell New Mexico. However, he discovered love for Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually made his way to Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver was by far one of the most well-known performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever inductee. Today he personifies the state for all people. You meet people in different countries, such as New Zealanders and tell them "I come Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" and they immediately reply with "Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time with small folk groups. The song was written with Bill Danoff. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver recognized that the song could turn into a hit once the song was first heard by him. After performing the song in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
